Daniel Lee was working as a consultant, advising Fortune 100 companies. He held a respected position, got to travel for business and was, in most respects, enjoying career success. But, a nagging feeling persisted. Daniel had the real, and all-too-common, feeling that he wasn't experiencing joy at work. He didn't love his job and yet, he didn't know what to do about it.
That situation set Daniel and a work colleague on a quest. First, they had to leave those great/not great jobs. Then, their mission was to discover how work could become engaging again - how it could be filled with fun, passion and excitement. They were comfortable taking on this quest when they realized they weren't the only ones experiencing this level of work dissatisfaction. They took it upon themselves to find a cure and the Happy Higher Club was the result.
What is the Happy Higher Club and how is BoxUp involved? Daniel explains,
"we took a deep dive into analyzing workplace culture. We applied the processes and strategies used in our consulting work to discover the missing ingredients and develop solutions that would work." As an aside, he notes,
"we interviewed enough HR managers to know that many standard/accepted programs just weren't working." These solutions weren't just about making people happy, though.
The Happy Higher Club was not only about individual satisfaction, but also workgroup and corporate success. "Having engaged, satisfied individual performers, passionate about their work, helps not only the quality of the work, but also saves money by improving retention . . . even improving the basic health of employees," says Daniel. Happy Higher Club sends a subscription box to the desk of an employee that contains 6 to 12 items that foster self-confidence, build relationships and provide overall happiness at work. Think: games,
journals, treats, lotions, desk-plants - the list goes on.
About the BoxUp experience, Daniel says, "with BoxUp, I was able to customize the box. Everything was so easy. I investigated a few options and BoxUp had excellent pricing and the boxes looked fantastic - we get so many compliments. And I've always had someone to answer a question when I have it. It's been an absolute pleasure." Circling back to the customer, Daniel says, "I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the experience - the 'unboxing' - it's absolutely critical to us. It has to be right. And we think the BoxUp boxes we've created make that moment you receive the box feel special."
